Checked Dress

With Christmas on our doorstep, what better way to inject a bit of colour into my wardrobe and celebrate by purchasing a red dress? That was my excuse anyway. Topshop does well for wardrobe staples and timeless items that never go out of fashion. Checked prints are one such example and I see this dress as an investment.

The same can be said for an oversized, tan bag-you can wear it with anything. Neutral colours ease the stress of that pre-work outfit panic and make the frantic morning rush a little easier. The size is also ideal for throwing in books, magazines and the overflowing makeup bag.

Holey Jumper

I bought this jumper from Asos by River Island last week when I saw it had gone down in price. I have been looking for a style like this for a while so that I can wear different coloured vest tops underneath to show through.

Statement necklaces are still my very favourite way to glam up an outfit. I have an ever-growing collection of embellished collars and this beaut, jewelled number was a steal from Primark; always worth a look in for cheap jewellery. My arm candy is a spiked cuff from H and M **Alternative here** which I am wearing in place of my beloved Michael Kors watch.

Although the lighting isn't great (my work hours don't permit daylight photographs!) my jeans are oxblood, still the 'in' colour for AW12, from the Topshop super soft/super skinny range which I love. My satchel is from Amazon and the jacket in the last picture is my Zara contrast leather/fabric biker.

Black Fur Collar

Fur Collars are a must for the colder seasons. Aside from the obvious (warmth!) they can really add something to a plain blazer/jacket. This one is from H and M and also comes in blonde and burgundy shades-I wanted to buy them all. I am wearing mine with an oversized vintage-style blazer from New Look which I got in the sale last year. I love monochrome colours for the winter and shades of dark grey and black are so versatile.

I am still loving the collar necklace trend, this one is an Asos piece, as well as the jumper and collar look (see older **POST** ). My shorts are a leather pair from Topshop; leather bottoms are everywhere!

Stripey Jumper & Disco Pants

If you haven't already invested in a pair of disco pants, do it! Although the American Apparel originals are expensive, you can find cheaper alternatives on Asos Marketplace and ebay. Although I have had the black pair for a while now, I am now contemplating getting the electric blue or bright red version, but I am not sure I would ever wear them.

Fur Gilets are a must for autumn and in-between seasons weather. In winter I plan on wearing mine over my biker and army jacket for extra warmth but at the moment, over a jumper is sufficient.

Stripes are timeless and as a print, never go out of fashion. At the weekend my mission was to find a stripey jumper and I picked this up at a charity shop for £4. My patent loafers are an old Urban Outfitters pair and my satchel is from Amazon.

Casual Saturday

Everyone should own a plain white t-shirt. It can be thrown on with anything: under a blazer, tucked into shorts, layered under a jumper etc. Monochrome colours are timeless and I always think wearing black and white together looks sophisticated.

I also love oversized cardigans so this studded number from Topshop worn with my cut-off Levi's was a perfect Saturday shopping outfit. Spikes and studs are still very much on trend so to finish off the look I added this goth-chic Asos necklace.

My hair is now slightly shorter and I have gone back to a bit of a dip dye look at the roots. I can never make up my mind and get bored of the same hairstyle after about a month but what I do know is I am sticking to a shorter style for now!
